bloodspeak
broken bonds, broken trust
bloodspeak
that words will never hurt me
is the greatest lie;
your words have pierced, have cut my flesh,
and i am bleeding dry.
i let myself be cut on you;
i slashed open my wrists.
it issued forth like gold ichor;
it was all that i could wish.
the liquid stained your hands
as my blood filled your cup.
i called it love, we shared this trust,
but you drank it all up.
i wonder when it changed,
when the rose began to wilt.
we draw our swords and bury them;
your heart becomes my hilt.
i’m foaming at the mouth
as the blood begins to speak.
some rabid creature i’ve become,
red gums and tongues and teeth.
i slobber blood onto the page;
each drop is spilling ink.
each stings me as much as you,
but i’ll swim before i sink.
you read all my lines,
you’re scanning them right now.
i call the end before you can,
and leave without a bow.

“i’m foaming at the mouth
as the blood begins to speak.
some rabid creature i’ve become,
red gums and tongues and teeth.”
beautiful imagery. wow.
